In
the last four years the school has introduced the idea of Restorative Discipline. It is a new approach to discipline. It does not focus on sanction or
punishment. Instead it asks students to
reflect on their behaviour and how it impacts on their relationship with their
friends or their teacher. They reflect
on three questions:
- What was I thinking when I did the negative action?
- What affect has it had on my relationships?
- What do I think about it now?
They
are then invited to make amends for their action.
The students find this a more just way of dealing with discipline,
especially the Senior students.
It gives them a second chance and it restores
their relationships.
