Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

To protect environment we adopted three methods Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

a) Plastic – to reduce practice, the students made eco-bricks from plastic bags filling the plastic bottles. These plastic bags filled bottles will be used as bricks to build toilets.

b) Reuse – The parents were asked to use paper bags or cloth bags to buy their vegetables, groceries, etc. and not to use glossy papers to wrap their gifts.

c) Recycle -  The students made Christmas tree from used plastic bottles.

Awareness programme – Children were taken to Art and Craft exhibition where the renowned artists had made art work from waste material at the Kala Ghoda festival.

Creating a harmonious and pollution free world

Celebrating the road safety campaign was initiated by the ISS India HSE (Health Safety and Environment) in order to make people aware about the national road safety in the Indian subcontinent. The aim of this campaign was to emphasize and accentuate people about the need of safe road travel by observing simple rules.
According to the information, it has been noted that approximately one lakh people lose their lives per year in the road accidents. Or some of them suffer from life threatening problems such as mental trauma, loss of memory, loss of hand or legs. It increases the importance of road safety measures. India has a very huge volume of traffic and commuters, so it is very important to make people aware of the safety measures and road pollution brewing from the huge volume of traffic.
It also need efforts from different stakeholders such as the community, transport sector, insurance sector, health sector, police, legal sector, educational institutions, highway engineers, vehicle manufacturers, public agencies, NGOs and etc. Students are given a huge opportunity to participate in the road safety week programme so as to bring about a change as future and responsible   citizens of the country
In collaboration with the RTO, i.e the regional transport office, the ISS organised a public rally for school children in the first week of October. More than 230 students of St.Joseph’s Pashan participated in the rally, which included the forming of a Human Chain from Senapati Bapat Road to Pune University Circle, a distance of about 1.5 km. They conveyed the message of safe driving by obeying simple rules and also about maintaining vehicles in order to ensure pollution control.
The school undertook this activity as JPIC aims at creating a harmonious and pollution free world.

The world day of prayer for the care of creation

Tomorrow, September 1st we celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, a day proclaimed by the Orthodox Church in 1989 and established in the Catholic Church by Pope Francis in 2015. The Holy Father encourages us to join him, and millions of other Christians around the world, to pray and “reaffirm [our] personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.”

This past Sunday, Pope Francis described the event as, “an opportunity to strengthen the common commitment to safeguard life, respecting the environment and nature.”
Catholic Climate Covenant also sent this press release to media around the nation.  In it, Dan Misleh shares some of his thoughts about the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.
Will you pray for creation tomorrow, Thursday, September 1st? A Prayer for Our Earth is from Pope Francis's encyclical, Laudato Si', and is a call for greater care of the planet and of each other. It can be found here. An adapted call and response version can be found here.

Season of Creation: Recently, many Christian churches have started celebrating the “Season of Creation” (also known as Creation Time) between September 1st and October 4th (the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi). The Global Catholic Climate Movement, along with several ecumenical partners, has resources for celebrating the Season of Creation. You can join the Facebook event , organize a prayer service for creation or join a prayer service in your community.

We also invite you to look at our website for liturgical and prayer resources to help you plan and organize a prayer service during the Season of Creation. A Feast of St. Francis event would be a wonderful way to mark the Season of Creation. The available Program Kit has all the resources needed to host a 90-minute event.
If you are on social media, please spread the word on Facebook and Twitter. Thursday, check #SeasonofCreation to see photos and videos of prayers from across the globe.
